Sneak Peek

Here's a sneak peek of a design I worked on for an upcoming publication. I love it and can't wait to make one of my own in color!

Sisal twine is fun to work with because it makes up an incredibly sturdy project. You can leave it unblocked for a crisp, crunchy texture with lots of structure or you can block it by submersing in water and suddenly the plant fibers loosen up and move more like fabric. It can be a little tough on the hands though. If I'm working a large project, I will wrap a piece of felt around my finger and tape it down with packing tape. The felt protects my finger and the tape provides a slick surface that allows the fiber to glide easily.
