I forwarded a link with a zoom photo of the Stella McCartney clutch to my good friend Ellen Bloom who I know enjoys crocheting with trims like soutache. She took a close look and has determined that it is Rat-Tail! She says "[rat-tail] has a satin-like finish and is a round cord. Soutache is usually matte finish and it's a flat trim". She's made many purses with both and I can confirm that her bags are gorgeous. Here are more Stella McCartney Crocheted goodies. Just don't look at the price.
